Peter G. Bissett, Esq.

Of Counsel

Peter G. Bissett is a licensed attorney and member of the State Bar of Michigan. Mr. Bissett’s practice focuses on divorce, custody, and parenting time proceedings. He works both in litigation and Collaborative Law Practice, and he sits on the board of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan. Mr. Bissett was honored with the Michigan Super Lawyer award in 2019, and is also a four-time recipient of the Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Stars award (an award based on peer review and extended to less than 2.5% of attorneys practicing in Michigan). He has been dedicated to serving individuals facing family law issues in Michigan, assisting in drafting the State Court Administrator’s Office Domestic Violence Protocols for Mediation, serving on the Macomb Community Domestic Violence Council as a board member and as the Prevention Task Force Chair, and participating in the Michigan Poverty Law Program’s Family Task Force.

Mr. Bissett has dedicated his career to family law, working as both a litigator and Collaborative Attorney. In addition to working Of Counsel with Goldner Deeg PLLC, he owns and operates Peter G. Bissett, PLC. His work history includes working as an Associate Attorney at Carlo J. Martina, P.C. in Plymouth, Michigan and as a Staff Attorney at Lakeshore Legal Aid. During that time, he was the sole family law attorney in Macomb County providing full-time, pro bono representation to indigent members of the community, many of whom were victims of domestic violence. His practice focused on divorce, custody, and parenting time proceedings. In this position, Mr. Bissett developed experience in high-conflict family law cases and built on his significant prior litigation experience that he acquired representing clients in complex commercial and medical malpractice cases.

Peter attended Wayne State University Law School, where he worked at the Free Legal Aid Clinic representing indigent Wayne County residents in family law cases. While at Wayne State, Peter was selected to the nationally-ranked Moot Court team. He participated in several national tournaments, including the National Championship Competition, where his team placed in the top 18 teams in the U.S. Prior to attending law school, Peter majored in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, where he graduated with Distinction.
